Testimonials

I was referred to Dr. Shackleton, and from my first visit, he made me feel very reassured. His whole team has a wonderful calming manner that makes it easy to gain trust. I have always feared the words "root canal", but after just having one, I am not sure why I have had that fear. It was a painfree experience and it was explained every step of the way. I feel 100% better and I am so thankful I was referred to such a wonderful dentist.

I reside near Chestermere and it was worth the drive for the evening before I had my root canals I spent in excruciating pain. This was caused by a different Dentist who performed 4 silver replacement fillings on April 21 08. For two months I suffered greatly, until they referred me to Dr Shackleton. So believe me when I tell you be wise and choose a professional such as Dr Shackleton when it comes to your teeth. I have never experienced a root canal and was a little apprehensive. The procedure to my surprise was absolutely painless both during and after. I highly recommend Dr. Shackleton and his staff for they were very pleasant, professional and informative.

Biography

In 1994 Dr. Shackleton was admitted into the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) program at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Northwestern has a long history of academic excellence which provided Dr. Shackleton with outstanding training and confidence to step outside the box of the traditional and limit his practice and time solely to endodontic treatment. While attending, Dr. Shackleton's class ranked 2nd in the nation in their national board exam and throughout his senior year, Dr. Shackleton was one of 2 students in his class selected to receive graduate implant training. On top of the demanding schedule that each senior student must follow, this included attendance at graduate seminars, paper presentations, patient care, restoration of dental implants and a presentation at the Chicago Midwinter Dental Meeting. Upon Graduation in 1998, Dr. Shackleton received the Academy of General Dentistry award for clinical excellence and was admitted to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental honor society. He was able to do this while he and his wife, Lori, were raising 3 small children - a number which has since grown to 4.

Almost immediately after graduation, Dr. Shackleton began receiving referrals from other dentists in Calgary to do root canal treatment for their patients. He was able to accommodate these referrals while operating his busy general dentistry practice. In 2005, Dr. Shackleton made the decision to limit his practice and follow his passion for Endodontics and has since dedicated his time solely to Endodontic treatment.

In his effort to continually provide the best service he can, Dr. Shackleton strives to be on the leading edge of current endodontic techniques. He does this not only through ongoing study of major endodontic journals and texts, but by receiving advanced training in all phases of endodontic treatment at institutions such as University of Connecticut, University of Pennsylvania and University of Southern California. He also attends various local seminars and courses to remain current with the many different techniques and systems available in Endodontics. This provides Dr. Shackleton with a broad knowledge base to draw from and ultimately provide exceptional, individualized care for his patients.
